  • Under the 2010/2011 cost-sharing grant scheme, financial incentives are awarded to foreign companies which they have a direct equity holding of at least 10%. (Funding - 2010: €6.5mn: 2011: €8mn. An extra €33mn is available for creating 1,000 new jobs in Pomurje Region).

Corporate income tax base can be reduced by 20-40% of the amount invested in R&D depending on the region. Investments referred to are:

  • Investments in plant and equipment and/or intangible assets: tax base may be reduced by 30% limited to EUR 30,000;
  • Employment of disabled persons: tax relief of 50% - 100% of the disabled person's salary;
  • For voluntary supplementary pension insurance up to 24% of obligatory contributions for pension and disability insurance;
  • Practical training of a trainee within professional education.
  • Depreciation/amortisation rates range from 3-6% on buildings, 20% on equipment, vehicles and machinery to 33.3% on R&D equipment and 50% on computer hardware and software.

  • Municipalities may offer special incentives to be negotiated on a case-by-case basis such as industrial sites and/or utility connections at a special price or holidays from local taxes (rates).

  • In addition to financial and tax incentives, the Slovenian Government may award co-financing to foreign investors directly if they create at least 38 new jobs in manufacturing sector, 15 in service sector or 8 R&D within 3 years after completing the project.
